BAYDOORS
Keywords: BAYDOORS, BAYD
=== USER MANUAL ===
Usage: baydoors
Description:
Toggle the ship's bay doors from the cockpit. No arguments --
each invocation flips the state. Flipping the switch starts a
4 second motorized cycle before the doors finish moving.
Bay doors gate whether other ships can land inside this ship's
hangers. With the doors open, a friendly dropship or fighter can
land in an available hanger bay; with them closed, incoming
ships are rejected with "That ship's hangers are either full or
closed."
Open vs Closed:
Opening ............ Cockpit: "All bay doors opening." Broadcast
to the starsystem: "<ship> bay doors opening."
Closing ............ Cockpit: "All bay doors closing." Broadcast
to the starsystem: "<ship> bay doors closing."
The toggle applies to every hanger on the ship simultaneously --
there's no per-hanger control from the cockpit.
Requirements:
Cockpit ............ Must be seated at the ship's controls.
Pilot access ....... Must own the ship or be a listed pilot.
Spacecraft ........ Must be a valid space vessel (not a non-
spacecraft class).
Has hangers ........ Ship must have at least one hanger or
garage bay. Otherwise: "This ship doesn't
have any hangers!"
Not busy ........... Ship must not have a pending timed event
(launch, land, or another baydoors cycle).
Notes:
- The 4-second delay is real time -- useful to warn incoming
fighters that the doors are closing before they dock.
- Both the cockpit and the surrounding starsystem see the
transition, so allies can time their landing with your toggle.
- NPC ships start with bay doors closed; player ships start
with bay doors open by default.
