Usage: deploy
deploy recall
Description:
Launch or recall the ship's interceptor fighters from the
gunner's seat. With no arguments, every built interceptor leaves
the hangers and auto-attacks the ship's current target. The
recall argument brings every deployed interceptor back to the
hangers.
Interceptors are small NPC fighters tied to their mothership.
They share the mothership's target and peel off automatically
to engage.
Three-Step Fighter Workflow:
1. Install bay ..... Install an Interceptor Hangar module on
your ship (Mk I / II / III) to grant the
SHIP_INTERCEPTORS capability and bay slots.
2. Build fighters .. Use interceptor (takes 20 seconds each)
from the gunner seat until you hit the bay
capacity.
3. Launch ........... deploy sends every built fighter into
space. deploy recall brings them home.
Requirements:
Gunner seat ........ Must be in the gunner's chair / turret.
Interceptor bay .... Ship must have SHIP_INTERCEPTORS
capability. Without it: "This ship doesn't
have any interceptors!"
Built fighters ..... ship->interceptors must be >= 1. If zero:
"There are no interceptors constructed to
deploy." Use interceptor to build them.
Realspace .......... Not in hyperspace, and ship must have
finished launching.
Manual control ..... Autopilot must be disengaged.
Combat Behavior:
Deployed interceptors inherit the mothership's target and
swarm it. If the target is destroyed or changed, they re-engage
the new target automatically. When an enemy ship targets one
of your fighters back, it counter-targets the attacker.
Interceptors can be killed. Each loss decrements the
mothership's fighter count permanently until you build more.
Recall:
deploy recall orders every active fighter to return:
<fighter> flies back to your hangers. (in the fighter)
<fighter> flies back to <mothership>. (in the system)
Returning fighters leave their current engagement and drop any
turret that was targeting them.
Echo:
On launch:
You deploy all interceptors! (gunner)
<n> presses a button on the weapon console. (room)
An Interceptor flies out of the ship's hanger. (cockpit)
An Interceptor flies out of a hanger on <ship>. (starsystem)
Notes:
- One deploy launches all fighters; there is no partial
deployment.
- Recall returns every fighter regardless of state.
- The mothership also auto-deploys interceptors when an
NPC-piloted ship engages combat with a target -- so stations
and capital ships under AI control can swarm you too.
