IMM_DISCORD
Keywords: IMM_DISCORD, WIZ_DISCORD, DISCORD
=== STAFF MANUAL ===
Usage: discord <message>
Description:
Broadcast a line of text to both the in-game DISCORD channel
and the linked external Discord server. Messages sent with this
command are mirrored two ways: every in-game subscriber on the
channel sees the line in their chat buffer, and the bridge
relays the raw text out through DiscordBridge::Send so the
Discord-side room picks it up as well.
Use this to hail Discord-only players, coordinate with the
staff room, or answer questions coming in from outside the
game. Anything sent is visible under your staff name on both
sides of the bridge, so treat it as a public announcement.
Output Format:
Other players on the channel see:
[DISCORD] <name>: <message>
You see the same line framed toward yourself:
[DISCORD] -> <message>
The line is stored in each recipient's discord history
buffer, not the general chat buffer -- view it with the
appropriate history command rather than chathist.
Restrictions:
- Requires the Game staff permission.
- You must have at least position stunned to issue the
command. Dead or incapacitated characters cannot speak
on Discord.
- The channel must not be muted in your personal channel
list. If it is, you see "You aren't even on the DISCORD
channel!".
- You must be above the configured level_can_shout
threshold -- the same gate that applies to shout, chat,
and the other global channels.
- Muted players (PLR_NOSHOUT) are silenced here like on
every other global channel. Timed mutes still show the
[N minutes remaining] prefix.
- Soundproof rooms block the command unless you have
nohassle enabled. The reply is "The walls seem to
absorb your words.".
- An empty message yields the usual "Yes, discord, fine,
discord we must, but WHAT???" refusal.
Rate Limiting:
Unlike the other global channels, discord runs through an
external bridge and is rate-limited per character. Sending too
quickly returns:
You are sending to Discord too fast. Wait a
moment and try again.
Staff with nohassle enabled bypass the rate limiter
entirely.
Notes:
- Recipients are filtered the same way as other channels:
not playing, writing mail, in a soundproof room, or with
the channel muted will all skip delivery -- but those
players still hear the line on Discord if they are
watching there.
- The message is relayed to Discord with your character
name, not your account name. Pick your handle accordingly.
