INSTALL
Keywords: INSTALL, DESTROY, REPAIR
=== USER MANUAL ===
Usage: install <item>
destroy <object>
repair <object>
Install:
Deploy an installable device from your inventory into the current room.
The item must be of type installable and you must meet its use
restrictions. Once started, installation takes a set amount of time
during which you cannot act.
- The item must be in your inventory (carried, not worn).
- The room must not be peaceful, in mid-air, or underwater.
- You must meet the item's race, level, and clan restrictions.
Some items require a skill check based on the item's associated skill
(demolitions, traps, engineering, etc.). If the check fails, the install
does not complete. A critical failure destroys the item entirely.
Other characters in the room who are also installing the same item
will automatically finish when the primary installer completes.
Destroy:
Destroy an object to render it non-functional. Works on three types
of targets:
Installed Objects Installed devices in the current room. Permanent
installations are disabled rather than removed.
Structures Structures and deployables in the room that have
a durability value.
Carried/Worn Items Items in your inventory or equipment with a
durability value are reduced to 0 durability.
Repair:
Restore a damaged or destroyed object. Targets the same three types
as destroy -- re-enables permanently installed devices, restores
durability on structures, and restores durability on carried or worn
items back to maximum.
Engineering:
Both destroy and repair speed scale with Engineering skill. The
base rate is 1 + Engineering/25 durability points per second. Higher
skill means faster completion.
Notes:
- All three commands are timed actions and can be interrupted.
- Only one character can destroy or repair the same room object
at a time. Install allows cooperative participation.
- None of these commands work in peaceful rooms. Install also
fails in mid-air or underwater rooms.
