=== USER MANUAL === Overview: Invisibility conceals you from other characters. Invisible targets are harder to detect, appearing as a faint shimmer or not at all depending on the observer's perception. There are two levels of invisibility that can stack: Invisible .... Basic spectral camouflage. Invisible-2 .. Advanced deep-spectrum cloaking. Stealth & Detection: Invisibility adds a flat bonus to your Stealth skill, which is rolled against an observer's Observation skill to determine whether you are detected: Stealth Bonuses: Invisible only ............. +5 Invisible-2 only ........... +8 Both active ................ +10 Observer Bonuses: Detect Invisibility ........ +5 to notice vs invisible targets Sense Life ................. +5 to notice vs hidden targets Detection Results: Fully Hidden .... Observer's notice is well below your stealth. They cannot see you at all. Shimmer ......... Observer's notice is close to your stealth. They see a faint distortion in the air. Fully Visible ... Observer's notice exceeds your stealth. They see you clearly despite the cloak. Note: If you are actively fighting, you cannot be fully hidden -- at best you appear as a shimmer. Powered Invisibility Equipment: Equipment such as cloaking devices and stealth suits can grant invisibility when worn. These items are battery-powered and must be toggled on to take effect. Power On power
on or power
to toggle. Requires a charged battery worn on your person. Power Off power
off or power
to toggle. Status power with no arguments lists all worn battery equipment and their current on/off state. While powered on, the equipment steadily drains your battery. If your battery is fully depleted, all powered equipment automatically shuts off. Example: > power cloak on Your cloaking device powers on. Breaking Invisibility: The following events will force you to become visible: Attacking ......... Initiating melee combat breaks hide and cover. Ranged attacks break hide only. Heavy Damage ...... Taking a hit that drops you below 1/3 HP strips both invisibility flags. Any Damage ........ Any damage received breaks hide. Being Searched .... The search command can expose hidden or invisible characters, stripping all stealth and imposing a temporary stealth and evasion penalty. Battery Depletion . When your battery runs dry, all powered equipment shuts off automatically. Visible Command ... Typing visible strips all stealth flags at once (invisible, hide, cover, sneak). When forced to appear, any battery-powered equipment that was granting invisibility will automatically power off. You will see "Your
powers off." for each affected device. You must manually power them back on to re-engage cloaking. Other Stealth Flags: Invisibility is part of a broader stealth system. Other stealth flags that affect detection: Hide .......... +5 stealth. Broken by any incoming damage. Cover ......... Only visible to characters in the same room. Sneak ......... +2 stealth. Reduces detection while moving. Friendly characters always see you regardless of stealth flags. Related Helpfiles: POWER, HIDE, SNEAK, COVER, SEARCH, SCAN, LIGHT === END MANUAL ===
