SCAN
Keywords: SCAN
=== USER MANUAL ===
Usage: scan
Description:
Scan your surroundings for nearby entities. The command sweeps all
reachable rooms within 5 rooms using a flood-fill search, detecting
targets in eight compass directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) as
well as above and below.
Unlike a straight-line scan, this detects entities around corners and
through winding corridors -- anywhere reachable within range.
Output:
Doors Notable exits are listed first -- closed, blocked, or open
doors and custom exit descriptions.
Entities Visible characters and objects of interest are grouped by
distance and direction:
You see a Lurker nearby to the northeast.
You see a Marine and a Sentry Gun far off to the south.
You see a Drone close by above.
Distance:
close by ............. 1 room
nearby ............... 2 rooms
to the ............... 3 rooms
far off .............. 4 rooms
far in the distance .. 5 rooms
Character Tagging:
Characters detected by scan are tagged for 3 seconds. Tagged
characters appear on your overhead map with a colored background
highlighting the room they occupy:
Red ......... Enemy
Green ....... Friendly
Yellow ...... Neutral
Tags persist briefly as you move, letting you track scanned targets
on your auto-map. They expire after 3 seconds and are refreshed
each time you scan.
Notes:
- Scan range is limited by lighting. In dark zones, you can only
detect entities as far as your light source or nightvision allows.
- Up/down directions are scanned linearly along vertical exits.
- If nothing is detected, you will be notified.
- Sneaking characters may evade detection. Your Observation is
checked against their Stealth -- if they win, they won't appear
in scan results or on the map. Allied characters are always shown.
