Usage: watch <direction>
watch
Description:
Keep a passive lookout in a cardinal direction (north, east,
south, or west). While watching, you are alerted when characters
move within your line of sight in that direction. Type watch with no
argument to stop watching.
Watching ends automatically if you move to a different room.
Detection Range:
Your watch range matches your scan range, determined by race and
equipment bonuses:
Human ........ 3 rooms
Zombie ....... 5 rooms
Demon ........ 4 rooms
Other ........ 5 rooms
Movement beyond your range is not detected.
Distance Messages:
When a character is detected, you receive a message describing their
movement relative to your position:
Immediately north you see a Lurker move towards you.
Nearby north you see a Marine move away from you.
A ways north you see a Drone move out of view.
Immediately ......... 1 room
Nearby .............. 2 rooms
A little ways away .. 3 rooms
A ways .............. 4 rooms
Off in the distance . 5 rooms
Map Highlighting:
Your watched direction is highlighted on the overhead map as a
90-degree cone with a dark blue background, extending to your
watch range.
Characters detected while watching are tagged for 3 seconds,
appearing on the map with the same colored backgrounds as scan:
Red ......... Enemy
Green ....... Friendly
Yellow ...... Neutral
Stealth:
Sneaking characters may evade detection. Your Observation is checked
against their Stealth -- if they win, they won't appear in watch
messages or on the map. Allied characters are always detected.
Fleeing characters cannot hide, regardless of stealth.
