WATER
Keywords: WATER, FERTILIZE, TENDING
=== USER MANUAL ===
Usage: water
fertilize
Description:
Tending raises the odds a crop matures rather than withering. water adds
25%, fertilize adds another 25%, and watering also shortens the time a crop
still needs.
Both treat every crop in range at once for a single unit. Reaching further
never costs more -- that is the whole reward for raising the skill.
Neither ever wastes anything. A crop that has already had that treatment is
skipped, and if nothing in range needs it you are told so and nothing is spent.
Range:
Untrained, water reaches only your own room and fertilize one room out.
At the Farming cap water reaches two rooms and fertilizer four, so a skilled
farmer tends a whole plot from one corner.
What they cost:
water draws one unit from a fountain in the room, or from any water
container you carry. A fountain is charged like any other source -- though some
replenish themselves over time. Skill gives a growing chance to spend nothing.
fertilize consumes one unit of potash -- see RENDER.
Timing:
Watering removes a quarter of the time a crop has left, so watering early
is worth considerably more than watering just before harvest. It can never
ripen a crop on the spot.
